threads lifting

Thread lift helps to lift and tighten the facial skin, contouring it to enhance the natural shape of the face.

Thread lifting is an aesthetic technique that has been popular in Thailand for a while now. This is a solution for various facial skin problems. It could tighten and lift up the particular area of sagging facial skin, and could also help defining jawline to make the face looks more in shape and contoured.

What is Thread Lift?

Thread lift is a popular cosmetic technique from South Korea that has been widely embraced in Thailand for several years. It helps address issues of sagging and loose skin, restoring a firm and contoured appearance. Additionally, it can be used to improve facial structure or target specific problem areas.

How Thread Lift Works

The technique of thread lifting involves the strategic insertion of threads in a mesh-like pattern under the skin, creating a lifting tension that tightens and lifts the facial contours. The results are noticeable within the first 1-2 weeks, with more defined improvements seen in the following 1-2 months.

There are various types of special threads used in aesthetic procedures, but the most commonly employed ones include:

PDO Thread Lift

Advantages:

PDO threads dissolve in the body within approximately 6 months, leaving no foreign substances behind under the skin.

Disadvantages:

The results may not last as long as other methods. After the procedure, there may be some bruising, which typically resolves within 7-10 days. Additionally, there is a possibility of threading near nerve endings, which can cause temporary numbness and swelling during the first 2-3 days.

Silicone Threads

Advantages:
The results of silicone threads last longer than those of dissolvable PDO threads.

Disadvantages:
Care must be taken when undergoing other treatments involving heat, as it may cause the silicone to melt. Additionally, after the procedure, small indentations may appear across the face due to the pulling effect of the threads, which have a knot-like structure. These indentations may take several months to fully disappear. Furthermore, silicone threads have not yet been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Gold Threads

Gold is a heavy metal, and although it is inert and does not readily react, caution is still necessary. If gold molecules break loose and migrate to various organs, it can cause complications. For example, if it reaches the kidneys, it may lead to kidney failure, or if it enters the bloodstream, it could result in anemia.

Additionally, it’s important to note that gold is a conductor of heat. Therefore, when undergoing treatments involving heat, it is crucial to inform the doctor beforehand. If the metal heats up, it could potentially affect surrounding tissues. Gold threads are complex, and if considering this treatment, one should carefully evaluate the potential side effects.

Preparation Before Thread Lift

  • Avoid taking medications and supplements that affect blood clotting, such as aspirin, vitamin E, and certain supplements, for 1-2 weeks prior to the procedure.
  • Check your health condition to ensure you are not allergic to local anesthetics, do not have any blood clotting disorders, and do not have a history of keloid scarring.

Post-Thread Lift Care

  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling during the first 1-2 days and take medications as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Avoid smoking.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Refrain from facial massages, laser treatments, or any other heat-based treatments.
  • Avoid steam facials or herbal steam baths during the first month after the procedure.
  • If bruising occurs, continue with cold compresses. The bruising will improve and typically resolve within approximately one week.
